To promote competition they could make similiar products as another country but make it better. Then there would be competition between the two companies because they both offer something that is the same. They could also promote competition by having companies in other countries. Then they would be going against the home companies in these other countries.
The government has played a large role in competition, as has the consumer. To ensure fair competition, the government has broken up trade monopolies before, as they did in Microsofts case. Consumers could easily choose products from lesser-known competitors, and, by doing so, help them to become more important against large scale corporations.
In order for their to be competition, companies must offer products similar to or the same as products offered by other countries. In this way, consumers can promote competition by buying products that are similar or the same as name brand products but from different companies. The government can also promote competition by allowing foreign companies to export their goods into the U.S. to make for more competition from U.S. companies.
Promoting competiton could be done by having similar products or services. If a country is importing a good, then the government could start a company to create that same product for a lower price, this could encourage the importer to either improve the product or lower the price.
Promoting competition happeneds on a regular basis. Businesses are often seeing who can out do who with things such as prices and brand names. When you go to the grocery store you often see a best choice brand and a more popular brand, I know if they taste about the same I am more likely to buy the best choice brand because its cheaper.
What actions could consumers and government take to promote competition?
Actions a consumer and government could take to promote competition is to start dominating the field. OR take a step back and let other competitors come into play, and than come back in and dominate the field, yet again.
