If you use a joint venture it will help your company be known in more countries and your trademark will be used. People will be able to associate that with the company. If you have legal rights to a trademark or brand name and someone else takes it and uses it, they can be taken to court for violations.
Companies might file for trademarks in each seperate country in which it would be operating. This would protect its international business operations. It might also file for trademarks in signifcant nations in which the company is not active, but may choose to be active in the future. Joint ventures might help to secure trademarks. A company based in the target nation that has a joint venture with the company could more easily protect the trademark in their home nation.
One thing that shouldnt be allowed to be imported into the United States is weapons. If fallen into the wrong hands, it will not be good for the U.S. One other major thing is drugs, because of the effects it can have on peoples lives and the people around them.
WIPO works with Member States to develop international laws and standards for trademarks, so companies can have a trademark for themselves with the help of WIPO. With there help they offer an application for trademark protection in different countries that you can file for.
For joint ventures they have The Joint Recommendation Concerning Trademark Licenses that includes the text of the provisions as adopted by the Standing Committee on the Law of Trademarks.

Every product them have can have a trademark and the company will have to update them every six months. A joint venture might protect their trademarks because their joint venture can keep track of their products in the country they are in so they know that no one copies or anything like that.
Actions a company cna take to make their trademark or brand names international is to make sure that it is something that can be sold in another country. Setting up a patent for the trademark is a way to protect its name. Actually implementing the process of putting the name out there can be done by advertising or setting up a smaller similar company in that country. Joint ventures can protect trademarks the same way with patents.
Tradmarks are a serious issue at hand, and if someone trys to bring you down, things will seem to go down hill. So to save you time, and money that goes into your trademark, consider the following:
1)copyrights
2)contract laws
3)traties and trade agreements
AND
4)consideration
In order to protect their intellectual property, an international business would most likely choose to obtain trademarks to ensure their exclusive right to use their mark to identify goods or services. By obtaining a trademark, the business can feel safe knowing that their mark cannot be copied without their knowledge and that they can take violators to court. This gives peace of mind to both the consumer and the business. Joint ventures make this process easier by allowing international businesses to keep tabs in different countries in order to stay aware of any trademark infringement.
