Other examples of common words that have become trademarks or registered brand names would be like Kleenix, Lego, Harley Davidson, Sony, MTV, Nokia and Canon. Some problems that might occur from using brand names in other countries is that they could have different meanings therefore making the product unappealing.
When conducting a internet search of trademarks I found things such as Mc.Donald's, The Pink Panther, Coca-Cola, and The Apple Computer sign. This can be difficult because sometimes your company
may have already chosen a name and someone in another country may have already taken that name, you maybe stealing there lego and you wouldn't even know it. You also have to be careful of your name because it could be hurtful to people that you do business not located in your country.
Many words have become well known through their corporate namesakes. Amazon and Google are two examples. However, companies should research what their name means in foreign languages before expanding into their markets. Brand names could mean something entirely different in a different language.

Some examples of a trademark are the apple sign, google, McDonalds, and Coca-Cola. Some brand names have to watch out like Mc.Donalds. Mc.Donalds is known for their hamburgers made out of a cow but this can cause a problem because in India the cow is sacred so they won't eat a hamburger so the company had to think of something else to sell.
A brand name that is from a different country that I know very well is Nintendo. Nintendo started from Japan and expaned across the U.S. Common words that have become brand names or trademarks could be Sprint or Microsoft. The problem is that if words are translated directly into another language, then it may mean something else.
Other examples of commons words for trademarks are AOL, GOOGLE, MSN, MYSPACE, YAHOO, PEPSI, COKA COLA, DELL, and MAC. A company might encounter name issues, legal issues, and names translating into offensive or non-aggreeable terms.
Trademarks and brand names are prevalent in our society. Clothing brands such as American Eagle, Hollister, and Delia's; Electronics brands such as Sony, Panasonic, and Toshiba; Cleaning products such as Lysol, Glade, and Oust. If it's a product on the market, it most likely has a trademark or brand name. Because of this, problems can occur. With so many trademarks and brand names already on the market, it can be very easy to choose a name that is already in use. This can lead to trademark infringement. Also, when dealing in international business, the name you choose needs to have good connotations no matter which language it's translated into. Companies have to be very careful to not offend their global counterparts.
